Geopolitical tensions, climatic and environmental pressures, new faces of extremism, health crisis, etc. Our daily lives have become obscured. Art draws from these crises through the sincere denunciation of what feeds the gigantism of cultural events.
The slowing down imposed by the pandemic and the distancing of exacerbated productivism incites us to look off-centre towards more intimate practices where it is a question of grasping the self without guarantee* in a line, a point, a clay modelling.
Less important is to paraphrase the world and its disasters than to coexist with its opacity and extract from it singular forms, capable of bringing our lives to life. The time has come to transform what needs to be formed / in the extinguished oven, in which / someone blows on my heart, / so that it regains some of its ardour**.
The three young artists featured in the new exhibition at the Galerie Lligat are developing a research in which form is approached as a process, a engendering. The attentive experience, repetition and the mastering of gesture are summoned in a tree-like graphic trance that produces signs on the world and acts poetically.
Such are the drawings of Naym Ben AMARA whose elaboration puts in tension the rising form which redefines itself “as the lines are deposited or emerge” with the artist’s attention. It is also the drawings of Jérémy LOUVENCOURT that walk along with the wefts of parchments and papers, intimately exploring their material to better conjure the loss of vibrating surfaces in a hyper digital world. Or again, the ceramics of Muriel PERSIL who draws on founding myths to proliferate forms and vitalist outgrowths in a physical and intimate confrontation with substance.
